| What
is the difference between porcelain
laminate veneers and crowns? |
|
| |
 |
| A
veneer is a custom-made porcelain shell
that fits precisely over the tooth -- it
has no metal understructure. A crown,
however, is an artificial tooth cemented
to the brepared tooth, Veneers are a new
technique and crowns have been around for
more than 2,000 years! |
| With
veneers more enamel is preserved on your
teeth than with crowns. in some cases
veneers can even strengthen teeth.
Although veneers are a more conservative
technique, many dentists are not yet
familliar or comfortable with them. If
crowns were recommended and you think
crowns may not be the right treatment,
seek a second opinion before you have
your teeth cut down. |
